“It’s not the NEW NORMAL anymore; itβs the NEXT NORMAL,” highlighted by the renowned resource person, Mr. Alwyne Jan βAJβ C. Perez, a master practitioner of Meta-NLP and certified meta-coach at the International Society of Neuro-Semantics (ISNS), during his 2-day workshop-seminar with the DSWD Field Office XIβs leaders and office heads. The activity, dubbed βLeading Change without Chaos: Transformational Leadership, Managing People, and Adapting to VUCA-era Workplace,β meant to address the profound shifts in the workplace and leadership dynamics catalyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly with the DSWD Field Office XI.
Realizing the impact of the pandemic, DSWD XI was never the same. By acknowledging this era, called the βNEXT NORMALβ by studies and experts, discussion on how to adapt to VUCA became more valuable and relevant amongst the public servants of the said office. The intervention emphasizes the imperative of learning from the different crises the office experiences to ensure organizational resilience and success in the years ahead.
VUCA, which stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, is not new in the world of any organization. Still, it has been true through and through in every organizationβs evolving journey in serving and achieving its goals, and DSWD Field Office XI is not an exemption. Hence, this leadership training is crucial and relevant to the DSWD XI officesβ heads and leaders.
With this, simplified models or frameworks were introduced by Mr. Perez to the DSWD XI leaders in which each crisis in VUCA will be addressed into specific actions. An example of this was Volatility which can be countered through creating a Vision, processing communication, enforcing beliefs, and enhancing focus to achieving the said vision.
The fruitful activity also discussed the Law of Leadership, Factors of Leadership, and the techniques of attaining and achieving goals. These topics were realized valuable to every participant as it has also been the struggle of every leader. Everyoneβs attention was focused on every strategy and technique introduced and explained.
The workshop served as a reminder that while the road ahead may be challenging, it is also ripe with opportunity. By embracing change and cultivating a mindset of adaptability, the leaders of DSWD XI are poised to lead their organization to new heights of success in the years to come.
Being a leader isnβt easy, but with the right tools and a little bit of know-how, anything is possible. These DSWD XI heads, led by Regional Director, Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, along with the entire regional management committee, had been equipped with ideas, techniques, and knowledge and even reminded of the crucial steps in becoming the leader who influences, inspires, and delivers, which are all important in serving the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged clienteles.
